Family History Group
The Family History Group, which meets in the afternoon of the 1st Thursday of each month, currently has room for 2 or 3 additional members.  Our aim as a group is to develop our understanding of our ancestors as people, not just a name and set of dates, through different aspects of Social History and how it has affected them and their families by:

  • Looking at new records or websites which have been released
  • Dissecting and interpreting documents so as to get the best from them
  • Suggesting ways forward when problems occur in tracing ancestors
  • Having a monthly topic, about a specific event associated with an ancestor – i.e.
“Did your ancestor emigrate, and if so how, why and where?”
“Did your ancestor have an unusual occupation?”

To benefit from joining the group members would need to have access to the Internet and be relatively proficient in the use of a computer.
